Levels, streaks and minigame mastery: how progression works
Party Night is a party game first. You can ignore every number in this post and still have a great night. But if you are the kind of person who likes watching a bar fill up (hello, fellow spreadsheet enjoyers), there is a lot to chase: levels, daily streaks, crates and a mastery rank for every single minigame.
Everything in this post is earned by playing. There is no premium track, and no amount of money buys you XP, a level, a crate or a shard. Party Night does have an optional shop for cosmetic items, but it sits next to all of this, not on top of it.
Where XP comes from
Every minigame you finish pays XP:
- 25 XP for finishing a minigame.
- +25 XP for winning it.
- +75 XP for your first win of the day.
- Streak XP on your first minigame of each day (more on that below).
- Challenge XP when a daily or weekly challenge completes.
Finishing a whole party pays extra, on top of the XP from its minigames:
- 100 XP for finishing the party.
- +100, +50 or +25 XP for finishing first, second or third.
- +25 XP for your superlative at the ceremony. Yes, even Consistently Mid pays.
Levels: a reward at every level
Levels come from XP alone. Level 2 needs 150 XP, and each level after that asks for 40 XP more than the last, up to a cap of 2,000 XP per level from level 48. For a sense of scale, level 10 takes 2,790 XP in total and level 30 takes 20,590.
Every level pays out:
- Every tenth level gives you a crate.
- All the levels in between give you 10 shards each (more on shards in a moment).
- Some levels also unlock level-exclusive cosmetics that you cannot get any other way: not from crates, not from shards. The first is the Party Regular title at level 3, then the Confetti cone hat at level 7 and the Streamer cape at level 12, all the way up to Centennial fireworks and the Party Centurion title at level 100.
If you played before levels existed, nothing is lost: levels you had already passed pay their rewards the next time you earn something.
The rookie boost
New players get a head start:
- +50 XP on each of your first three minigames.
- A welcome crate after your second minigame.
Put that together with the first-win bonus and the first streak day, and a brand-new player who wins their very first minigame walks away with 195 XP. That is level 2 before The Auditor has even learned your name.
Daily streaks
Your first minigame of each day starts or extends your streak, and pays 20 XP per streak day: 20 on day one, 40 on day two, up to 140 XP from day seven onwards. Miss a day and the streak starts over at one.
Streak milestones pay extra, once per streak:
- 3 days: 25 shards.
- 7 days: a crate.
- 14 days: 50 shards.
- 30 days: a crate.
- 60 days: 100 shards.
One quick minigame a day is enough to keep it going. Even a round of Quick Draw counts.
Golden win streaks
There is a second kind of streak: minigames won in a row against other people. Three wins in a row earns the golden Hat Trick title, five earns High Five and ten earns Perfect Ten, and a streak of ten also unlocks the Legendary radiance aura.
Only minigames with at least one other human in them count. A minigame against bots only does not extend your streak, and it does not break it either. Any other finish in a minigame with people ends the streak, so Perfect Ten is meant to be very, very hard.
Crates, shards and pity
You earn a crate for every 30 minigames you complete, on top of the welcome crate. Add the level crates, streak crates, weekly challenge crates and Diamond mastery crates, and they add up.
Opening a crate reveals one cosmetic, and each one has a rarity: Common (40% of crates), Uncommon (30%), Rare (20%), Epic (8.5%) or Legendary (1.5%). A few rules keep it fair:
- Pity: you are guaranteed an Epic or better at least once every 15 crates.
- Duplicate protection: if the first draw is something you already own, it is drawn again once.
- Shards: if you still get a duplicate, you receive 10 shards instead. Collect 150 shards and you can craft a crate cosmetic of your choice (Legendary items excepted).
- Shard deals: every day the Rewards page also offers four achievement items you have not unlocked yet, for 100 to 800 shards depending on rarity. Never Legendary items and never shop items. Shards also pay for extra daily challenge swaps (50 each) once your free one is used.
Crates are never sold. You cannot buy them, not with money and not with Confetti, and you cannot buy shards. They come from playing, full stop.
Minigame mastery
Every one of the 34 minigames has its own mastery rank. You get 1 mastery point per game played and 2 per win, and there are five tiers:
- Bronze at 10 points: 10 shards.
- Silver at 30 points: 25 shards.
- Gold at 75 points: 50 shards.
- Platinum at 150 points: 75 shards.
- Diamond at 300 points: a crate.
Every tier pays once, per minigame. With 34 games, that is a lot of Bronze just waiting for anyone willing to try everything. The Progress page shows your mastery for each game, so you can see which ones you have been quietly avoiding.
Where to see all of it
Click the level chip in the toolbar, right next to Menu, to open your Progress page: your level bar and the rewards coming up, your streak, your challenges and your mastery ranks. After each minigame, the results screen shows one reward ribbon with the XP you just earned, and everything else sits under Details, so the fun part of the results screen stays fun.
Your progress is saved to your guest profile in this browser, automatically. No sign-up needed.
